The price of war
The price of war and the heroes it produces The price of war and the heroes it produces War is hell George Patton said, the good General had it right. The burn Victims of the War in Iraq seem to stand out as the most seriously wounded. The advances in burn therapy have saved more lives that could have been saved years ago. The personnel stories are heroic heartbreaking and inspiring all at the same time. Corporal Merlin German is an example of a real hero who has defied all the odds. Burned over 97% of his body he has recovered miraculously and has become an American National Hero. After His Humvee hit a roadside bomb on the streets of Baghdad he reached the United States within 72 hours to begin the incredible road to recovery. He has undergone hundreds of skin graft operations and received different awards for valor and heroism. If you ask any young black kid ( Merlin German is black ) on any big city street who Lebron James is, all will know. Few will know who Merlin German is or any name of an African American war hero. That is very sad, very sad indeed. Sometimes for the United States to stay the Land of the free it must be the home of the brave. |
