Tensions high between Syria and Israel
Syria has started to call up reserve soldiers as tension rises The latest tension that started because of an incursion of the Israeli Air force has refused to die down. Amazingly there has been no official word from the Israelis on exactly what has transpired. The Israeli prime minister was quoted as saying that all actions taken by the IDF were not and should not be public knowledge. There has been much speculation as what exactly happened and if there were any Syrian casualties. It seems that it wasn’t just an incursion on Syrian air space. That wouldn’t have kicked off this severe incident. In any case the Syrians have started a partial call up of reserve units to bolster its standing army. This may be very significant as Syria does not seem to want to ease tensions for now. There may be Iranian pressure on Syria to continue to keep tensions high to possibly get some pressure of Tehran. The likelihood that Syria will actually move its army offensively to retake the Golan Heights still seems low. What seems more plausible is a surprise missile attack from Syria Hezbollah and Iran which will hit the soft underbelly of Israel. Its population centers. If this happens all hell will break loose as Israel may be forced to use everything at its disposal except for its nuclear arsenal. This scenario is possible as the Hezbollah enjoyed relative success in its missile onslaught in its last war with Israel. Time will tell where this is all going. Keep your hats on. |
