Search engine Giant is chalenged by startups that seek to fundamentally the search experience.

Google watch out

Up till now search results depended on key Words or key phrases. This is how it worked.

Generic Search results for a particular key Word or phrase were decided by many factors that included a properly planned website that included in it the key words or phrases in a natural way in the script and code of the site. Then an entire myriad of outside factors contributed to the apparent strength and quality of the site which influenced the search engine rankings.

Often for better results unintuitive keywords or even backward phrases gave better results for a website. What would be a solution to this?

A search engine that could understand a sentence or a few words and point the user to the best results of his query.  Essentially this would mean the Computer could think a bit and be able to make a leap from an algorithm to actual thinking.

The San Francisco based company Powerset and Israeli Based Linguistic agents seem to be trying to create a system that will fundamentally change the way Search works.

 Should Google be worried?

 Hard to say.

Google is probably also always doing research to improve their search engine.

What seems clear is that search will change to make things easier for the user. How and when is still unclear.
