Arson in California

At least two of the fires that have ravaged the state of California have apparently been started by arson. California police have started investigating this criminal act and claim progress is being made to apprehend those responsible. The governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has threatened the arsonists with swift apprehension and told them to be wary as authorities are on their trail.

The human mind cringes at the thought of a few people causing so much suffering to so many. There has been a lot written on the sickness of the mind of pyromania. These types of people take perverse pleasure in seeing fires spread. These sick individuals when caught have taken legal refuge on psychiatric grounds avoiding often serious jail time.  

Other experts claim that even a sick pyromaniac can reason between right and wrong and is responsible for his actions. They say that if a pedophile is responsible for his actions despite serious psychiatric problems then so to is a arsonist. There needs to be legislation designed to scare off would be arsonists, a death sentence if convicted.

Good people are often shocked by the evil that lurks in the hearts of men. If good people do nothing or almost nothing then that evil becomes a mainstay. At that point the good people become part of the problem.
