Peace in Middle east seems impossible Dream

President Bush trying to facilitate peace deal in the Middle East.

Bush says he will not impose a solution on either party that wouldn’t work in his works. He reiterated that only two democratic countries side by side could fight radical elements emerging from the region. He didn’t sound convincing. He did sound hopeful. He did say that the Palestinian Israeli track took preference to Israeli Syrian negotiations.

What he didn’t say seemed more relevant than what he did say. The President or anyone else for that matter does not have any answers for the core problems. The parties are diametrically at odds over a few points that no one in 40 years has been able to solve.

The Israelis say Jerusalem is the Israeli capital whereas the Palestinians claim it as their capital of their future state. All ideas on compromise on this issue have been shot down.

The Israeli say they will not allow any influx of former refugees of the war of independence into Israel as this will upset the demographic balance in the country. The Palestinians say “ the right of return “ is paramount to any peace deal.

The Israelis say they will never withdraw to pre 1967 borders while the Palestinians say peace is inconceivable if this doesn’t happen.

 Sounds like an impossible impasse?

 It is.
