NBA All STARS- WOW

NBA fans everywhere were treated to an incredible game as the expected all star of All Stars Lebron James was named the MVP of the game. Run and gun is the norm in these games and this star studded affair was no different. Never the less James seems to stand apart from the rest. King James electrified basketball fans around the world with his incredible play. His alay oops long range shots and almost unbelievable moves to the basket have put him in a league of his own. He exploded to the basket in the final minute of play like cannon shot dunking over the best players in the world. He has become the new face of American Sports the new Michael Jordan of professional basketball. Unlike Jordan , Magic Johnson or Larry Bird he has not won an NBA championship and the way things look he will not win one this year either. The Celtics are playing and acting like the team to beat this year and in all likelihood will beat the Lebron’s team to get into the NBA finals. After watching these guys play it seems a little incredible that a team of all stars seem to lose very often to well coached European teams. Lebron himself played on teams that lost to a number of European teams in the Olympics. As difficult as it is to believe the US stars only gained a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics in Greece. They had Lebron James Allan Iverson and Tim Duncan on the same team and lost. The Argentineans meanwhile had just one NBA player and won the Gold. The obvious unpleasant conclusion is that the level of play in the NBA may not be the highest in the world. It may be the most interesting and most exciting but it is not the best. A better test of the best basketball teams would be having the NBA champions of each year play the European Champions in a championship series. That will probably never happen as the different leagues finish playing at different times. In addition NBA players do not want to risk injury in playing additional games. The salaries are so high it just is not worth the risk to play anything outside the NBA.

At least its fun to watch.
