The Giant of conservatism William F Buckley Jr. has died.

There was no greater towering figure in Conservative thinking than William Buckley JR.
The “ National Review “ the ultimate conservative magazine created an intellectual revolution after WW2. Founded 1n 1955 on money received from his father and anonymous donors the magazine changed the way intellectuals looked at conservative thinking. He redefined the term conservative itself. The ultimate fulfillment of his conservative doctrine had to be the election of Ronald Reagan as president of the United States. Reagan was the conservative wonder boy who kicked Jimmy Carter out of the White House. Reagan himself said he was inspired by the “national review “and was a very avid reader of the Journal. The fact that both Bushes father and son became Presidents made the movement that Buckley shaped into the policy that shaped United States foreign doctrine. It is hard to imagine the development of the conservative movement as an intellectual movement without Buckley. He spoke almost non stop with 70 public appearances per year. He also anchored the longest running show in history that was hosted by the same man. His wit and humor while using some words that nobody had ever heard of made him a living legend in intellectual circles. He died while working in yet another book. He was 82.
