Hey, its just 120 trillion miles away. A hop skip and a jump. A potentially habitable planet that may have some life on it has been discovered. 581 c is its name and some sceintific facts and bit of star trek imagination would make travel to this planet possible. Its not so far away from a relatavistic piont of view ( no pun intended ), only 21 light years away. That means a spaceship travelling close to the speed of light would take 21 earth years to reach this planet. This might seem like a long trip but the travelers will travel less time from thier prespective according to einstiens relativity. So maybe someone will figure out how to get to 581 c and come back in one lifetime.

This discovery has captured the imagination of many intrigued by the possibilty of life out there in the great beyond.

Are we alone? Are we special? Has mankind and the inhabitants of the earth been chosen?

Can we still be special if life is found?

All very existential questions. Up till now no one has discovered any life outsuide the planet earth. This has lead many to bieleve that we are alone. That fact may make some uncomfortable and some not. Einstien is alleged to have said that g-d did not throw the dice on the universe. If he did then there should be other places and beings somewhere.

We will need to solve our problems here and now as there doesn't really seem to be any other place to go.
