Israels Prime minister Ehud Olmert has refused to step down from office even after extreme crtisicm of his role in the last Lebanonwar. The Wienegrod commision headed by retired Judge Eliyahu Wienegrod has harshly critisized the prime minister the defense minister and former head of the Israeli Army. Inexpereince ineptitiude and impulseveness was rampant in all the decision making processes. Many died on both sides and none of the stated objectives of the war were achieved. The army was not prepared for a conflict of this kind and nobody on top seemed to really grasp the real battle readiness of the IDF. None the less Olmert is adamant about staying in power. Different analysts have said that it is unlikely the he will be able to govern in the extreme volatile political climate that the inquiry commision has created. They say that Olmert doesn't understand yet that his government is doomed. He will though. |
