A time to go home

Two Humpback whales apparently have slipped back into the ocean after making a wrong turn and ending up near San-Francisco. These most beautiful of mammals among the biggest in the world have captured the hearts of people around the globe especially those off the coast of San-Francisco. There was real concern that confusion injuries and fatigue would doom the whales so their apparent return to their natural environment has brought a smile to millions of people.

Many are aware of the suffering that whale hunting caused these animals in the last century. The wholesale slaughter of these animals brought them to the brink of extinction until laws were passed to protect them. They have made such a comeback that Japan has allowed some limited Whale hunting off Japanese waters.

They are no longer on the list of endangered animals thought there numbers world wide have not returned to what they were before the onset of Whale hunting.

It is a soothing thought that these giant gentle creatures after some difficult days are once again free in their home, the Oceans of the world.
